Steam Donkey has a nice grainy flavor with a hint of hoppy bitterness that still refreshes nicely. We ended up at 3.25-3.5/5 on this one. The aluminum bottle is a great thing, but I think they'll be moving away from aluminum to glass soon so if you want a good lager in the aluminum bottle, buy them up now!.
Surgenor Brewing has only been running for little while, but they've done quite well with this brew.
A solid 4/5 pint rating from The Beer Guys.

This is an interesting little gem coming from a fairly new brewery and is currently their only offering. They have been marketing themselves as a "sustainable" brewing facility, and I tossed a note their way to try to get a bit more information on what they mean by that, but I have yet to hear back from them.
As you can see from the included photo, the beer is well carbonated and holds a lovely head for a few minutes. It has a rich golden amber hue to it and good clarity. The malty flavour is fuller than I had expected to begin with and carries a grainy barley malt flavor with a mild (cascade?) hop that invites you to roll it around in your mouth. The lattice it leaves is characteristic of fuller beers as well and leave the drinker quite satisfied that the drinking could be sustainable too!
All in all this one is a bit better than I had expected and lives up to the local micros reputations nicely. I recommend this to folks who like to have one or two after work, or maybe a couple on a Sunday afternoon with a game.
TBone couldn't be around to taste this one unfortunately, but on behalf of both the Beer Guys, I'm granting this brew a 3.5/5 pint rating. Not bad for the first beer off the block in a new brewery! Keep up the good work guys!
Once I have it, you'll have it. Cheers!
No one visiting here has ever actually seen what we do, and usually I record the tastings just so I can take notes and bring the short version to you. Hopefully I can change that, and I would like to start bringing you the tastings themselves to the site as well as the crib note version. Unfortunately the batteries in the camera died before we finished the tasting, but most is here for you to see.Nostradamus won a gold medal in the 2002 World Beer Championships and is an especially complex ale. There is an almost unidentifiable sourness that starts mildly but grows as you sip. There is very little hoppiness to the brew. The head is quite aggressive with large bubbles and a broken lattice unique to this beer. The description is very hard to put into words and I recommend you try this one for yourself, especially if you like the Belgian styles.
P.S: Oud Bruin is also known as Flanders Brown and originated in the Flemish region of Belgium.(my apologies to any Belgians or Scots I may have offended by confusing the two in the video). The Beer Guys have put this at a 3.5 of 5 pint rating.
The Beer Guys are giving this one a 3.75/5 pint rating.
Happy drinking!
